Day 13 of 30: Inside Out

Just because He invites you to come as your are doesn't mean you should stay as your are.  God's Word changes us, it changes us from the inside out!

Change comes as you hear the Word of God, and hear the Word of God, and hear the Word of God:  "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32.  God's Word is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12).  It is sharper than a two-edged sword.  Once you hear it, transformation within begins.  Continue to hear it and transformation is inevitable (Romans 10:17)

What is transformation?

We all are familiar with the transformation process of the caterpillar into the butterfly, but we do not snuggle into a cocoon and pop out as a butterfly.  When we are transformed, what are we transformed into?  What change in composition or structure takes place within us?  What outward change takes place?  What change in character or condition takes place in us?  How do we know the transformation is underway.  How do when know when it is complete?  

Ask the one who first knew you before you were born (Jeremiah 1:5). He knows your thoughts. He knows what you are going to do before you do it.  He holds the answers to your transformation.  

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

Rather than reading one passage today, here are a few scriptures to answer your questions.  As you continue in daily prayer and time with Him in His Word, you will find many more.  

 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  Rom 12:2

What does transformation look like?

  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.  Galations 5:19-26

 A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly.  What will I transform into?

 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.  2 Corinthians 3:18 

When does this transformation take place? 

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17

How does the transformation begin?

  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  Romans 10:9,10

  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.   Galations 2:20

When will the tranformation reach completion? 

 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.   Phillippians 1:6 

Day 12 od 30: The Power is in the Seed

In the Christianese language, we know of seed being money that we sow as offerings, whether it be in church, through an organization, or handing the money to a widow to go buy groceries.  We see the law of sowing and reaping in the Word, and most of us understand the basics of how it works.

Today, I encourage you to take the time to listen to this video regarding Luke 17:6.   Planting your Garden by Rev. Steve Houpe  

Rev. Houpe gives a great analogy of the power that is within the seed.  The soil does what it is designed to do, and when the seed is planted it grows according to it's kind.  "Your life (the garden), is a direct result of the seeds you have been planting."  "Everything you need in life is in the seed (the Word of God)." 



Today's passage is Luke 17:5-17.  What did the apostles say to Jesus?  Why did Jesus tell them about faith, rather than increasing their faith?  What did Jesus tell the leper who turned back and glorified God?

Luk 17:5  And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 

Luk 17:6  And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. 

Luk 17:7  But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? 

Luk 17:8  And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? 

Luk 17:9  Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. 

Luk 17:10  So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. 

Luk 17:11  And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 

Luk 17:12  And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 

Luk 17:13  And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 

Luk 17:14  And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 

Luk 17:15  And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 

Luk 17:16  And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 

Luk 17:17  And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 

Luk 17:18  There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 

Luk 17:19  And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. 

Day 11 of 30: Every Which Way But One?

Have you ever headed in a direction that you just knew was right?  An investment that seemed like a sure thing, but turned sour.  A decision that later you realized was the wrong one?  The devil uses deception as his primary tool to lead us off the right path.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 KJV

What do we do when we face these trials and tests in our lives?  What do we do when faced with deception of the enemy?  We speak the Word.  We count it all joy.  We thank God that even though our situation may be a fact at the moment, it is not our Truth.  He is our truth.  His Word will be accomplished.  (refer to Day 9 message).  Allow your faith to change the outcome.  Have faith in God.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6

What is the path like for the believer in Christ?  Jesus says that He came that you might have live and have it abundantly in every way, every area of your life.  He did now say that trials would not come your way, but he said that you can live an abundant life if you choose Him.

 "...I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life,..." Deuteronomy 30:19

Today's passage is an example of what Jesus did when deception came into His path, and He follows by telling us what to say and do when deception enters our own paths.  Mark 11:12-25 KJV

 What did Jesus do when deception came to him? 

In today's passage, Jesus saw a fig tree full of leaves far off, but as he approached no figs were to be found.

What did Jesus do when he found no figs on the tree?  Why?

Later, how did Peter react when he realized the fig tree was dead?  And, why was Peter amazed?

How did Jesus respond to Peter?

Mark 11:12-25 KJV

Mar 11:1  And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples, 

Mar 11:2  And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. 

Mar 11:3  And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither. 

Mar 11:4  And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. 

Mar 11:5  And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 

Mar 11:6  And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go. 

Mar 11:7  And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him. 

Mar 11:8  And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. 

Mar 11:9  And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:

Mar 11:13  And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. 

Mar 11:14  And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. 

Mar 11:15  And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; 

Mar 11:16  And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. 

Mar 11:17  And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 

Mar 11:18  And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine. 

Mar 11:19  And when even was come, he went out of the city. 

Mar 11:20  And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 

Mar 11:21  And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 

Mar 11:22  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 

Mar 11:23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 

Mar 11:24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 

Mar 11:25  And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 

Day 10 of 30: Are your eyes in focus?

 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."  Isaiah 55:11

In a world full of doubt and deception, we can count on God's Word.  His Word is always fulfilled.  Despite our struggles, tests, trials, we can do as David did and always turn our focus back to God.  

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.   Psalm 138:7-8.

Romans 10:17 tells us that hearing the Word is what builds our faith, which enables us to withstand the storms that blow through from time to time.  We walk through these troubles in victory by focusing on God.  Keeping our eyes on Him, His purpose, His Will; because His Word will not return void.  

David's life reflected the trust we can have in God, and is an example of how God walks with His children every step of the way.  Notice David reminds himself of God's promises and also sings and prays the Word of God throughout the Psalms.  David relied on God's power, the power of His Word (Heb 4:12). 



Today's passage is an example of David in prayer and song praising God with His whole heart, Psalm 138 (KJV). 

Psa 138:1  A Psalm of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. 

Psa 138:2  I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. 

Psa 138:3  In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. 

Psa 138:4  All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth. 

Psa 138:5  Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD. 

Psa 138:6  Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. 

Psa 138:7  Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. 

Psa 138:8  The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. 

Day 9 of 30: by EVERY word...

Praying through the Word of God is more than just isolated passages.  This series contains 30 chosen passages to practice and develop a habit of praying as you study and read the powerful Word of God gaining wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  Remember, "God's Word in my mouth has just as much power as God's Word in His mouth,"because God's Word is still God's Word when it comes out of your mouth.

Digging a little deeper, Matthew 4:4 says,  "But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God." (KJV)

We live and are upheld and sustained by every word that comes from from the mouth of God..... every word, not just selected passages.  


Today's passage is Hebrews 11.  

This chapter defines faith, and tells us of examples of faithful Men and Women of God's Word.  This Chapter goes further than the faith of these men and women on earth.  What else does this chapter share?  These men and women had faith, but were they perfect?  Did they still walk through tests and trials in their lives?  What else can you glean from this chapter?

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 

Heb 11:2  For by it the elders obtained a good report. 

Heb 11:3  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 

Heb 11:4  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. 

Heb 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 

Heb 11:7  By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. 

Heb 11:8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 

Heb 11:9  By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 

Heb 11:10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. 

Heb 11:11  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Heb 11:20  By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.

Heb 11:32  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 

Heb 11:33  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 

Heb 11:34  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 

Heb 11:35  Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 

Heb 11:36  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 

Heb 11:37  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; 

Heb 11:38  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. 

Heb 11:39  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 

Heb 11:40  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. 

Day 8 of 30: God Answered

An example of one righteous man in history who prayed God's Word is Daniel.

Daniel was a man considered alongside Noah and Job (Ezekiel 14:14-20) by God.  Reading through the life of Daniel, you will see he was punished for persisting in praying to only His God and in victory faced the Lions.   

Daniels life reflects a life of prayer, and a God who answers those prayers.   Daniel, in our passage today (Daniel 9:1-19), begins by reading the Word of God, the prophecy of Jeremiah from 66 years before, and realizes the prophecy will be fulfilled soon as the 70 years is completed.

"'This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,' declares the LORD, 'and will make it desolate forever.'" (Jeremiah 25:11-12; see also Jeremiah 29:10; 2 Chronicles 36:20-21 and Zechariah 1:12)

Daniel begins to pray for his people, intercede for them.  He begins to pray from the Word of God he was reading.  He knew God would keep His promise (Daniel 9:4)  The exile was to end in a few more years.  Daniel spoke that promise back to God in his prayer in Daniel Chapter 9.  

Daniel knew it was his people's own fault they were in the exile in the first place, because they continued to turn away from Him.  He also realized the people were still sinful and had not really changed.  God, though, had made a promise--70 years of exile.  

While reading this passage today, take note how Daniel prays for His people.  How can we learn from this prayer when praying for our nation, the world, our extended family members?  

What passages, promises of God, can you pray on behalf of the people in your life?  

Daniel's prayers were from the stand point of the Old Covenant (the Law), before we were bought and paid for with the life of Jesus Christ.  How might you pray for others, family, cities, and nations under the New Covenant?

Today's passage is Daniel 9:1-19 (KJV).

Dan 9:1  IN THE first year of Darius son of Ahasuerus, of the offspring of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans-- 

Dan 9:2  In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the books the number of years which, according to the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass by before the desolations [which had been] pronounced on Jerusalem should end; and it was seventy years. [Jer. 25:11, 12; 29:10.] 

Dan 9:3  And I set my face to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes; 

Dan 9:4  And I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, Who keeps covenant, mercy, and loving-kindness with those who love Him and keep His commandments, 

Dan 9:5  We have sinned and dealt perversely and done wickedly and have rebelled, turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. 

Dan 9:6  Neither have we listened to and heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 

Dan 9:7  O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us confusion and shame of face, as at this day--to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to those who are near and those who are far off, through all the countries to which You have driven them because of the [treacherous] trespass which they have committed against You. 

Dan 9:8  O Lord, to us belong confusion and shame of face--to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers--because we have sinned against You. 

Dan 9:9  To the Lord our God belong mercy and loving-kindness and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against Him; 

Dan 9:10  And we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in His laws which He set before us through His servants the prophets. 

Dan 9:11  Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, even turning aside that they might not obey Your voice. Therefore the curse has been poured out on us and the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him. [Lev. 26:14-45; Deut. 28:15-68.] 

Dan 9:12  And He has carried out intact His [threatening] words which He threatened against us and against our judges [the kings, princes, and rulers generally] who ruled us, and He has brought upon us a great evil; for under the whole heavens there has not been done before [anything so dreadful] as [He has caused to be] done against Jerusalem. 

Dan 9:13  Just as it is written in the Law of Moses as to all this evil [that would surely come upon transgressors], so it has come upon us. Yet we have not earnestly begged for forgiveness and entreated the favor of the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and have understanding and become wise in Your truth. [Deut. 4:29; 28:15ff.] 

Dan 9:14  Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity (evil) and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is [uncompromisingly] righteous and rigidly just in all His works which He does [keeping His word]; and we have not obeyed His voice. 

Dan 9:15  And now, O Lord our God, Who brought Your people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and secured Yourself renown and a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly! 

Dan 9:16  O Lord, according to all Your rightness and justice, I beseech You, let Your anger and Your wrath be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain. Because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach and a byword to all who are around about us. 

Dan 9:17  Now therefore, O our God, listen to and heed the prayer of Your servant [Daniel] and his supplications, and for Your own sake cause Your face to shine upon Your sanctuary which is desolate. 

Dan 9:18  O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and look at our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You for our own righteousness and justice, but for Your great mercy and loving-kindness. 

Dan 9:19  O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, give heed and act! Do not delay, for Your own sake, O my God, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.
