60 finished....50 to go!

That's right.  60 silhouettes completed and only 50 more to go.

This past week or so, I have also been working on the background layout.  Here is the plan (as long as I can get the proper supplies, which have proven challenging in this country).  The overall project will be a total of 108 canvases (with 110 faces):  12 canvases wide and 9 canvases deep, all connected, yet in three different depths (flat board, 3/4" thick, and 1 1/2" thick.  the reason for the three different depths is to add to the texture and composition of the project as a whole. I am not certain of the size of the canvases yet... they run a little different in this country than the standard American sizes.

Earth tone water color mixing chart by Jane Blundell.
The sub-theme behind the main theme of the project is a "build it and they will come"....  Why?  We built it, and they came.  The idea so far (and this is not definite yet, because my artwork tends to evolve rather than stick to a set plan)  is to use earth toned watercolor on the backgrounds of the canvases to create the idea of a wall behind the silhouettes once they are put together.  The earth tones I have chosen are taken from Jane Blundell's water color mixing charts.  She has a great blog for watercolor mixing here.

I will be transferring the silhouettes over to the canvas once the backgrounds are complete.  I am also trying to work it out to where the book of Ephesians is written withing the backgrounds without distracting from the silhouettes.  Not sure if that is going to work yet.
