Who Am I? I Am Spiritually Sightful.

Meditating on the Word, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." found in 2 Corinthians 5:7; I thought about the phrase we commonly hear, "blind faith."  Many believers associate this phrase with verses from the Bible like 2 Cor. 5:7, and other passages of the Bible like the one of Abraham and his son in Genesis 22:1-19.

An online dictionary defined blind as sightless and destitute of vision.

Is this the kind of faith God gives us?

The biblical definition of faith is "NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]."  (Hebrews 11:1 Amp)

This definition of faith when studied in the original language involves having confidence in something that is trustworthy or faithful.

The passage in Genesis 22: 1-19 also confirms this.

God had told ABRAHAM that he would be a FATHER of MANY NATIONS.  He told told Sarah that she would bear a child despite her age. Later, God tells Abraham to kill Isaac his son.  Abraham did not question God. He followed God in faith.

Does this mean Abraham blindly (sightless and destitute of vision) followed God?

Just before Abraham was to kill his son, God stopped him and told him, "...now I know that you fear and revere God..." (Genesis 22:12)  When we read this passage in it's entirety and look at Abraham's life before this incident, we find that he KNEW God.  God had MADE A PROMISE to him.  He knew the TRUTH (John 8:32) and knew that he could TRUST God regardless what the situation looked like in the natural.

Abraham walked by FAITH, not by sight.  He walked in the assurance of the real fact, the promise made to him by God.  He did not follow God, blindly, as we know it. He followed God with his SPIRITUAL EYES WIDE OPEN and FULL OF THE VISION God had given him.
