Who Am I? I Am a Righteous, Believing, Child of God.

How do you know if you are a Christian?

This may seem like a simple question.  Let's say someone receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  The excitement is overwhelming.  The new birth experience can be very emotional, as you experience a myriad of feelings.  Family and friends around you are also excited with you and want to celebrate.

As time passes, emotions die down, non-Christians question the changes you have made in response to the new birth,  and the devil places thoughts and situations in your path that create doubt.  Good support from Christian family and friends who walk you through the beginning of your new life as a Believer helps one remain stable.

Becoming a Christian, the New Birth, is a new birthday for you.  Natural birth produces an infant needing love, nurturing, and protection.  Spiritual birth produces a Spiritual infant, also, requiring LOVE, NURTURING, AND PROTECTION.

Christianity centers around Jesus Christ, who came in the flesh on this earth, "...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  John 10:10.  With Adam, sin entered the earth.  People might look clean (living a good and moral life) on the outside, but in reality do not have Eternal Life.  When sin entered the world, man could not have a "right relationship" with God.

Jesus came and died for us, so that we can have a "right relationship" (making us righteous) with God.  When Jesus died and rose again, He paid the price for sin and give us a new heart (spirit), making us a new in Christ.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1 Peter 3:18
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8
When Jesus Christ is received as Lord and Savior, this person is adopted as a child of God, producing a Father/child relationship between God and this person.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
God's Word is the reassurance, the stability, that Christians know they are a Christian.  Feelings and emotions change.  The facts, the TRUTH, of God's Word does not change.

John 1:12 says, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

You are a new creation in Christ:  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

You are a child of God:  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.  Romans 8:16-17

He will never leave you nor forsake you:  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5

God's Word is the assurance to know you are a Christian.
