Who Am I? I Am a Talker and a Listener.

What is Prayer?  It is simply what Christians call "talking to God from you heart."*

In marriage communication is key.  Both spouses get to know each other and begin to live as One, talking from their hearts to each other, talking everyday.

Getting to know God and spending time daily with Him is an important part of spiritual growth.  It is so important, the enemy works to prevent you from having the time to talk with God, or make you feel that you are not good enough to talk to God.  Do not let hindrances come between you and your time with God.  If there is something in your mind, our your day, that is hindering time in prayer, talk to Him about it.

Prayer is communication, which is talking and listening.  Imagine calling a friend on you cell phone, and walking around just listening to them talk.  You cannot get a word in edgewise.  After trying to interject a few times, you decided to just sit and listen.  This is not communication.  Communicating involves both listening and talking.  It is an exchange information between individuals through speech, symbols, signs, or behavior.

How can we know God hears our prayers?

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  (15)  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.  1Jn 5:14-15
Prayer is essential to both your spiritual development and getting to know your Heavenly Father.  If you find talking to God difficult or ackward at first, try reading a few scriptures from the bible out loud each day and talking them out, knowing God is listening.  As you sit and meditate (beginning to think upon and talk out) the scriptures, you are on your way to knowing Him, and His voice as you begin to him him through His Word.
